Kovalink Support
This page answers the most common Kovalink questions. If nothing here helps, see "Contact" at the end.
How to get access
There are three ways. You need only one.
Invitation. Open the invitation link we sent you. Genuine invitation links start with https://api.kovalink.app/connect The app opens and applies the invitation for you. There is nothing to type or configure.
Subscription. Open Kovalink and tap Get access, then Subscribe. The price Apple shows in the app is the price you pay. Apple bills the subscription to your Apple ID.
Access key. Open Kovalink, tap Get access, type the key under "Have an access key?", then tap Activate. A key looks like XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX; dashes and letter case do not matter. One key covers up to three devices: enter the same key on each of them.
The first time you connect, the system asks for permission to add a VPN configuration. Allow it. This is Apple's standard VPN permission.
Connection problems
- "Could not establish the connection. Please try again." The tunnel did not start. Check the device is online, then connect again.
- "Check failed" — "The tunnel is connected, but Apple's reachability page did not load." The VPN tunnel is up, but a test page did not load. Wait a moment, then use the button to disconnect and connect again. If it keeps failing, contact support.
- "The VPN configuration did not save completely." The system did not save the VPN profile. Try to connect again. If it repeats, open Settings in the app, choose "Remove VPN configuration", then connect again.
- "Disconnect before changing connections." / "Wait for the current change to finish." The app is busy with another change. Wait, then try again.
- "Use another device. This Mac cannot send all traffic through its own address." This Mac is the same machine the traffic would go through. Use Kovalink on another device instead.
- "A saved connection could not be read." The saved access on this device could not be read. Open your invitation link again, or contact support.
- "Privacy consent is required." Kovalink needs you to accept the in-app privacy notice first. Open the app, read the notice, and tap Agree.
- "This link cannot be used." The link is not a usable Kovalink invitation link. Ask for the complete invitation link again and open it as sent.
Subscription problems
Adding your iPhone or Mac. Every installation gets its own access. On the new device, open the app, tap Get access, then "Restore purchases". Sign in with the Apple ID that bought the subscription. One subscription covers up to three devices.
- "No active Kovalink subscription was found." Restore found no active subscription. Check you are signed in with the Apple ID used to subscribe, and that the subscription is not cancelled or expired. Then try again.
- "The App Store could not be reached. Try again." The device could not talk to the App Store. Check the connection and try later.
- "Kovalink monthly is unavailable right now." The plan could not be loaded from the App Store. Try again later. If it persists, contact support.
- "Waiting for the App Store to approve this purchase." The purchase needs approval first, for example with Ask to Buy. After approval, open the app, tap Get access, then "Restore purchases".
- "The App Store could not confirm this subscription." The purchase could not be verified. Tap "Restore purchases" and try again.
- "Kovalink could not activate access. Try again without buying it again." Your purchase was verified, but activation failed. Tap "Try activation again". You will not be charged twice.
- "The subscription is not active." Apple reports no active subscription. Check the subscription status in your Apple ID settings.
- "The subscription access record conflicts with this installation." This installation does not match the subscription's device records. Contact support.
- "The purchase proof was not accepted. Try again later or restore purchases." Wait a little, then tap "Restore purchases" again.
Cancelling. Subscriptions are managed in your Apple ID settings. Apple explains how: https://support.apple.com/HT202039 After cancelling, access continues until the end of the paid month.
Renewal failed. If a renewal payment fails, Apple notifies you and retries. Fix the payment method in your Apple ID settings. Then open Kovalink and tap "Restore purchases".
Access key problems
- "This access key isn't valid." The key was mistyped, or it is not a Kovalink access key. Check every character and try again, or contact the seller you got it from.
- "This access key's membership isn't active." The membership behind the key has lapsed, been cancelled, or been refunded. Check it with the seller, then try again.
- "The subscription access record conflicts with this installation." This key is already active on three devices. Remove Kovalink from a device you no longer use, or contact support.
- "Too many attempts. Try again later." Too many tries in a short time. Wait a while, then try again.
- "The subscription service is unavailable." / "could not be reached." The service or your network had a problem. Check the connection and try again in a minute.
- Adding another device. Open Kovalink there, tap Get access, and enter the same key.
- Cancelling. The membership behind an access key is managed with the seller you bought it from, not in the app and not in Apple ID settings. Access ends when that membership ends.
Invitation problems
- "This invitation link is not valid." The link was changed or cut off. Ask for the complete invitation link again.
- "This invitation is no longer available." The invitation was already used, has expired, or was withdrawn. Ask for a new invitation.
- "Too many attempts. Try again later." Too many tries in a short time. Wait a while, then open the link again.
- "The pairing service is unavailable." / "could not be reached." / "did not respond in time." The service or your network had a problem. Check the connection and open the invitation link again. If the app was cut off mid-attempt, it retries once by itself shortly after you reopen it.
- Need a new invitation? Invitations work once. If yours was used, expired, or withdrawn, contact support.
Privacy and deleting your data
Kovalink stores your access credentials on your device only. Access history is off by default; when the administrator switches it on, the service keeps, for each access grant and by UTC day: connection times, connection counts, upload and download byte totals, and observable destination domains or IP addresses and ports. It is kept for seven days (today plus the previous six), is deleted immediately when your access is revoked, and is visible only to the private administrator. Page contents, passwords, and messages are not read. To request deletion, contact support — revoking your access removes its history immediately. Details: https://kovalink.app/privacy
On iPhone and iPad, deleting the app also removes the credentials it stored. On a Mac, open Settings › Remove VPN configuration before deleting the app, or contact support to revoke that device's access. To revoke your access or request deletion of service records, contact support.
Status and known limitations
Kovalink is in an early access stage. The app is in public beta through TestFlight; the App Store listing is on its way. New purchases may be switched off for a while. If the app says paid access is not available yet, use an invitation for now. Access is internet-only. Kovalink does not reach home networks or local devices. Kovalink needs iOS 17 or later, or macOS 14 or later.
