VPN for YouTube buffering
At 10:05 p.m. you press play. The frame stays gray, the progress bar twitches and stops, and the video never starts.
Why this happens
A video is a queue of short segments. When those segments stop arriving over the VPN, a 1080p stream stalls and the player has nothing left to show. The gray frame is the wait. The spinner is the wait. A resolution label on the player does not change the fact that the next segment has not come in.
Evenings are when the shared line is oversold. A segment that arrived instantly at lunch waits its turn after dinner, along with everyone else who pressed play. The player does not explain the queue. It spins. If the path is also a detour, every segment takes the long way around, and a short video starts to feel like a long one because the pieces trickle.
Reconnect sits in the middle of this more often than people expect. The phone switched networks. The laptop woke. The tunnel dropped between two segments, and the player went back to the start of its spinner. A restart that waits for you to notice leaves the picture gray while you are still looking for the button. Crowding, a longer route, and a slow handoff are enough to explain the frame.
What Kovalink does
- A stalled path can be replaced while the player is still open, and that is a fallback, not a promise about picture quality.
- One tap connects Kovalink, and one tap disconnects it.
- Auto selects a server, or you pick one from the Nodes list.
- Smart routing stays on by default: sites in mainland China go direct, and traffic to other places goes through the tunnel.
- Under Settings, then Routing, you can switch that mode to Global.
- If the path in use fails, Kovalink falls back to another on its own, and you do not choose a protocol.
- On iPhone, Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, plus a Home Screen widget, shows whether you are connected.
- On Mac, the same state sits in the menu bar.
Start in three steps
- Download Kovalink for iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Sign in with an email code, Sign in with Apple, Google, or Whop. One email is one account, and access follows that account across devices.
- Tap once to connect. Auto selects a server. You can choose another from the Nodes list.
